Empowered Sales Model

In week 1, we talked a lot about power dynamics and how we are often pulled between making ourselves the thing-being-extracted-from and the extractor, and how often we choose smallness in an effort to avoid causing harm. This lesson, from my group program THRIVE, dives into these dynamics and introduces what I call the Empowered Sales Model, which offers a third, more sovereign, option.

  • What preconceived notions do you have about what it means to be good at selling? How do these perceptions align or conflict with your personal strengths?

Overpowered Sales Model

  • Reflect on a time you experienced the overpowered sales model as a buyer. What about the interaction felt uncomfortable or misaligned for you?

  • Are there any sales tactics you’ve internalized from this model that you might still be using unconsciously? How can you shift away from them?

Underpowered Sales Model

  • When have you held back from fully showing up or sharing your offers because you were afraid of being seen as “pushy” or “too much”? What impact did that decision have on your business?

  • What stories are you telling yourself about why playing small feels safer or more acceptable? How might these stories be holding you back from the results you want?

  • What would happen if you allowed yourself to take up more space in your business and fully claim your worth? What’s the worst that could happen—and what’s the best?

  • What does it look like for you to stand in the fullness of your offer while respecting your client’s sovereignty? How does this feel different from the other models? 

  • Think of a client interaction where you felt deeply connected and in your power. What made that moment stand out, and what became possible when you were in that energy?
